COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Be Part of Something That Matters
Cresco isn't just about providing support. It's about building a community where conversations around mental health and substance misuse are no longer something people feel they have to avoid. Real change doesn't happen from one organisation working alone. It happens when people within communities decide to stand together, look out for one another and make it easier to say, “Actually, I'm not okay.”
That could mean inviting Cresco to:
-
Agricultural and county shows
-
Young Farmers' Clubs
-
Farms and agricultural businesses
-
Equestrian yards and centres
-
Veterinary practices
-
Agricultural and veterinary colleges
-
Livestock markets
-
Rural community events
-
Equestrian competitions and shows
-
Local clubs, societies and organisations
-
Sometimes creating an opportunity for one conversation is enough to make a difference.
Bring Cresco Into Your Community
One of the most important ways you can support Cresco is simply by helping us be present. As our work develops, we want to be part of the places where rural life is already happening rather than expecting people to come looking for us.
START THE CONVERSATION
You don't need to be a mental health professional to help change the way we talk about mental health and addiction. Checking in with someone, sharing information, challenging an outdated attitude or simply being willing to listen can all contribute to a stronger community. We want Cresco to help make conversations like “How are you, really?” feel as normal as talking about the weather. The more people who are willing to have those conversations, the harder it becomes for someone to feel that they have to struggle alone.
Sometimes creating an opportunity for one conversation is enough to make a difference.
WELLIES ON THE GROUND
Our Wellies on the Ground approach is about taking Cresco directly into agricultural and rural communities. That means being alongside people where they already are at farms, yards, shows, markets and community events listening to their experiences, understanding the pressures they face and making conversations about mental health and substance misuse more accessible. Community involvement will be an important part of helping Wellies on the Ground grow. Local knowledge matters. You know your community, the places people gather and the conversations that need to happen.
